The Mardi Gras clay poker chip set is
manufactured by the Blue Chip Company. Everything about this set just
seems mediocre. The colors aren't great, but they aren't horrible
either. The sound they make isn't the best, but it isn't awful either.
Some of the chips inlays are spot on, others are slightly off center.
While reviewing these chips, I kept wanting to reach out and grab my
Paulsons. Because at around $.95 a chip, unless you really love some
of the colors in this set, why not just buy a set of Paulson poker chips?
These chips have the same mold as the Nevada Jacks Martini Club poker chips. The labels are stamped into the chip. Unfortunately several of them were off center on the chips I received. They feel slightly harder than a Paulson clay chip. They also make a higher pitched sound the Paulsons do. I don't particularly dislike the sound they make, but I like the sound Paulsons make a lot better. You can order them without denominations which might be a good thing considering that a couple of the chips struck me as being quite ugly (the brown chip).
Unless you collect poker chips and absolutely must have one of every poker chip set available, then I would suggest purchasing one of the Paulsons chip sets. Or even Chipcos Egyptians. Both chip sets are far superior to the Mardi Gras poker chip set.
