Poker Academy Pro 2.0 Page 3

All of the Texas Hold’em flavors are here.  You can play everything from full ring games to 5-max, 6-max, or whatever-max including heads up.  Also included is everything from SNG’s to very large multi table tournaments including the 2005 World Series Of Poker.  They actually have tables already set up to mimic the different tournaments at various poker sites including Party Poker, Poker Stars, and Ultimate Bet.  If your tournament skills need work, you’ll be able to get plenty of practice with Poker Academy Pro.

My only complaint isn’t really much of a criticism at all.  Poker Academy has an Online play option.  Unfortunately, not that many players appear to take advantage of this feature. When I logged onto Poker Academy’s server, the place was empty.  I did create a NL heads up table after which I proceeded to wait patiently for a challenger.  It took a bit over 10 minutes but someone finally accepted my challenge.  We each started with 10k in chips and needless to say, it was a blast.  I can see real potential for improving one's heads up game if you’re able to find enough quality players to pit your skills against.  I just wish that there were more players online, but then you can't really hold Poker Academy responsible for a lack of player interest.

I’ve read some horribly written reviews of this program on some other sites.  One in particular concluded at the end of his review that "although Poker Academy is a great learning tool, it is no substitute for the real thing," insinuating that you’ll become a better player by jumping right into the action and learning through trial and error at the online real money poker tables.  What garbage!  There’s a reason this program is called Poker Academy Pro.  It teaches you to play poker in a realistic manner.  It’s the perfect substitute for the real thing!  What type of players do you encounter at low limit Party Poker type tables, the tables most people play at?  Calling stations, maniacs, and the occasional passive rock.  This software has absolutely no problem mimicking the play at low limit tables.  And it does a hell of a good job emulating the trickier play you’ll find as you go up in limits.  Vexbot will give you a run for your money if you crank its abilities up.  Is Poker Academy a good substitute if you’re going to regularly sit down across the table from Johnny Chan?  Of course not.  But how many people ever sit down at the same table with players of that caliber?  And even those players would benefit from exposure to Poker Academy Pro 2.0.  The opportunity to play Vexbot alone is worth the price of admission for this program.

It really doesn’t matter where your skill level is at.  Poker Academy Pro 2.0 will help you become a better player.  And the program is a lot more fun than I thought it would be.  How many times have you wanted to sit down at a $500 SNG and act like a maniac, just tossing chips into the pot with no regard whatsoever for your financial well being?  With Poker Academy 2.0 you can do just that.  I’ve been playing poker for more than 15 years, and I can honestly say that Poker Academy has improved my game.
