Poker.com Review

Overall Score 8.38

I have to admit that I didn't have high hopes for Poker.com when I first decided to review their site.  I was told that their graphical interface wasn't the best, and being new to the poker scene (having launched in 2004), I didn't have a lot of confidence in them.  Well I can honestly say that I was pleasantly surprised by my experience at Poker.com.

Their software is actually quite sleek.  It's retro cool if that makes any sense.  If Atari opened a card room, this is how I'd expect it to look and play.  They don't have 3D player avatars, but you can choose a 2d graphic to represent yourself with (your countries flag, a happy face, etc...).  I've heard rumors that they plan to implement a webcam system in the place of avatars at some point, which would be a first for online poker.  After playing for awhile, I realized that I actually preferred playing with just the cards on the table.  Without graphically represented players, the tables end up being larger, it's easier to see the cards, and there's nothing to distract you from the action.  If you multi-table, you'll love this place.  I played five tables at once.  The software conveniently arranges the tables via tabs at the top of the screen.  When a table needs attention, it doesn't just pop up annoyingly like they do at some poker sites.  Instead the corresponding table's tab flashes indicating that it needs attention.

Playing at Poker.com is almost like playing at Party Poker when it first opened.  There are a lot of poker newbies floating around the tables.  And when I say newbies, I mean completely new to playing poker, total fish type newbies.  The type of players we all love to play against.  As of this writing, the players at Poker.com are extremely soft.  If you are even a moderately skilled poker player, you will earn money here.  The low limit tables are absolutely packed with fish, starting at the $.5/$.10 tables and continuing on into the middle limits.  Currently there appear to be few high limit games taking place.

They offer the standard varieties of Omaha and Texas Hold'em in both limit and pot limit.  You won't find Crazy Pineapple here but they do offer what most poker players want.

Being a recent addition to the poker community, Poker.com doesn't take it's players for granted like some sites do.  They really treat their players well.  Email support is excellent.  They also offer instant payouts via Netteller.  They don't make you jump through hoops just to get your winnings.  Besides Netteller you can withdraw via Clickpay, Citadel, wire transfer, and bank draft.  Deposit methods are Visa, Firepay, Citadel, Clickpay, and wire transfer.  These guys are trustworthy.  You don't have to worry about winning big and then having your account frozen.  They also offer some of the best bonuses you can find, including daily $3000 freerolls.  In the future they plan to implement a comp system where you can earn points for playing which can then be spent on merchandise, entry into events, or even real money chips.

One of the reasons I'd imagine they're getting such a huge influx of inexperienced poker players is the fact that they have the best domain name in poker.  For years Poker.com  was used as an affiliate banner site until it was sold.   I'd be very curious to know how much they paid for their domain name.  Much of their player base probably comes from people randomly typing in Poker.com.   Believe me, at least as of right now this place is very soft.  The last time I played, ALL of the low limit tables were seeing flop percentages over 50%.  Many were much much higher.  The table I was at averaged 80% of the players seeing the flop.  That table was just a train wreck.  Overall I was very pleasantly surprised by Poker.com and highly recommend it.  Check this place out while the games are still soft.

Poker.com is one of the lesser known online poker rooms.  If you'd like to read some more online poker room reviews focusing on some great poker sites that receive less attention than the big rooms, then I highly recommend Unknownpoker.com.  It's a great site that features everything from poker room reviews to the latest WSOP info.
