Full Tilt Poker Review

Overall Score 8.19

After playing at Full Tilt Poker for the last month I have to admit that I’ve added them to my “favorites” list.  Full Tilt is a relatively new online poker room having just launched in July 2004.  From their website's layout and the advertisements they put out, you’d think that Full Tilt's software would convey a serious, down to business poker vibe and that their graphics would match this demeanor.  Once you log onto their site you’ll find that it’s quite the opposite.  Their software is the most unique in the business and I say this in a good way.  Some describe it as “cartoonish,” and it is to an extent.  It’s also a fun and refreshing change after playing at the same sites with the same boring software year after year.  Their software is also fast and very easy to become accustomed to.  It won’t take you more than a moment to adjust to playing at the tables at Full Tilt.  One thing I really like is that you can choose exactly where at the table you wish to sit.  The table will re-adjust itself so that you can view the table, and your seating position from the angle that you desire.  No longer do you have to try to spot your player avatar at 4 different positions on 4 different tables while multi-tabling.  You can automatically choose the exact same table position for each table.  I really wish that Party Poker would implement this feature as well.

There are a variety of player avatars that you can choose from which vary from the “cool surfer guy” to a “donkey.”  You can also change their facial expressions at your whim.  Tired of viewing the same background for hours at a time?  Then change it.  Full Tilt Poker offers a variety of game backgrounds to choose from that include everything from the Vegas skylights to the inside of an alpine ski lodge.

Whenever I try out a new online poker room for the first time it always takes me awhile to adjust to the new software, table layout, etc.  I can honestly say that at Full Tilt it took me the shortest time yet to make this adjustment, and I’ve played at a lot of online poker rooms.  The graphics are uncluttered making it easy to spot where everything is, and the interface is intuitive,

Several Pros endorse Full Tilt Poker which although is not new in the industry, does bump the sites credibility up a bit.  Pros like Chris Ferguson, Howard Lederer, and Phil Ivey aren’t going to endorse a site that treats their players poorly.  Your bankroll is safe here and withdrawals are processed with surprising speed.  Although they do receive a lower mark for having email support only, the fast response time makes it less of an issue.

The players you’ll find at Full Tilt Poker are for the most part of a higher caliber than those you’ll find at for instance, Pacific Poker.  The average player skill level is similar to what you’d find at Paradise and Absolute Poker.  You will encounter a lot of weak-tight players at Full Tilt.  I should also mention that the no limit tables are noticeably softer than the limit tables.  Personally, I played at the low to middle limit tables and had no problem showing a profit.  Their generous deposit bonus will also help in this respect.

Full Tilt Poker offers a 100% deposit bonus up to $600 which although is not as easy to clear as the Party Poker deposit bonus, is definitely doable.  As well as providing a very generous bonus, Full Tilt also offers a VIP points system.  For every $1 in rake you contribute you will earn 1 VIP point which can be used for everything from entrance into tournaments, to items in their store which include clothing, poker books, and even your own customized player avatar.  It’s a nice change from the low quality items that Party Poker offers to its players.

Full Tilt has recently joined PokerRoom in becoming one of the few online poker rooms to offer support for Mac users.  It’s really too bad that so few poker rooms offer software for Macs.

Overall I have to give Full Tilt Poker high marks.  While I really enjoy the looks and feel of their software, at its heart Full Tilt is just a fun room to play poker at.  This will definitely be a site I frequent.
